During the Eleventh Session of the Africa Regional Forum on Sustainable Development (ARFSD), we joined various stakeholders to undertake an in-depth review of progress made towards the achievement of five Sustainable Development Goals, namely Goals 3 (Good Health and Well-being), 5 (Gender Equality), 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth), 14 (Life Below Water) and 17 (Partnerships for the Goals), along with the corresponding goals of Agenda 2063. Together with the Kenyan delegation, we also participated in various side events and meetings, including a consultation with Themba Kalua, the Director of Pact of the Future Implementation at the Executive Office of the Secretary General, on the localization and implementation of the Pact of the Future.

#ARFSD11 took place at the Speke Resort Convention Centre in Kampala, Uganda, from April 9 – 11, 2025, under the theme: “Driving job creation and economic growth through sustainable, inclusive, science and evidence-based solutions for the 2030 Agenda and Agenda 2063”. The Forum was jointly organized by the Economic Commission for Africa (ECA) and the Government of the Republic of Uganda, in collaboration with the African Union Commission, the African Development Bank, and various entities in the United Nations system.

Africa is not standing still; we are standing up. Mainstreaming youth engagement in Sustainable Development initiatives and fora will contribute significantly to the continent’s progress. Check out the Kampala Declaration here.
